Jackknifed tractor trailers slows Highway 97 traffic to single-lane alternating

At 6:18 p.m. on Dec. 19, 100 Mile House RCMP received a report of a jackknifed tractor trailer on Highway 97 just south of Ainsworth Road.

When members arrived, it was determined that a B-train flat deck tractor trailer unit was northbound and travelling down a hill which curved left in the area.

The tractor lost control and crossed both oncoming lanes before it slid off the road and went off the road striking a BC Hydro pole.

The driver of the B-train was not injured; however, the tractor sustained severe damage.

BC Hydro was called as was a flagging crew because traffic flow was affected in both directions while crews worked to repair the damaged pole and remove the tractor and trailer.

The highway was slowed to single-lane alternating traffic for several hours.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
