Chinese visitors tour Gold Rush Trail

100 Mile House plays host to the community leaders from China

A group of Chinese community leaders will tour the communities along the Gold Rush Trail in the Cariboo, June 15-22.

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) has worked with the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association, Barkerville Historic Townsite, the districts of 100 Mile House and Wells, the cities of Williams Lake and Quesnel and the Chinese Consulate General in Vancouver to organize the tour.

The visit will see the Chinese delegates tour several Gold Rush Trail communities and First Nations cultural centres.

They will also enjoy community dinners organized by local government leaders in each of the communities.

The Chinese delegates left Vancouver on June 15 and stopped at the Cariboo Lodge in Clinton for a lunch break at 1 p.m.

They arrived at the South Cariboo Visitor Centre in 100 Mile House around 3 p.m. After being introduced to local officials, they went on a walk around the 100 Mile Marsh.

Following the walk, the toured the 100 Mile House Branch Library.

They stayed at the new 108 Resort Golf & Outdoor Adventures that night and enjoyed a barbecue dinner.

After breakfast the next morning, they continued on their tour of the Gold Rush Trail.
