Car fire on Canim-Hendrix Lake Road

Update (12:30 p.m., Nov. 24): 100 Mile House Fire Rescue reports that no one was in the car or at the scene when they got there.

“We responded to a fully engulfed vehicle fire and we had to suppress that fairly quickly upon arrival,” said Fire Chief Roger Hollander.

The cause of the fire is unknown and the scene was handed off to the RCMP.

“No oxygenates were in the vehicle and nobody was on scene at the time,” said Hollander.

There were no injuries or any damage. The fire was contained to the vehicle.

Original Story: A car fire that occurred earlier in the evening on Canim Hendrix Lake Road caused it to close.

The incident occurred east of Gateway.

Firefighters could be seen on site while a large column of smoke was also visible.

It is unknown at this point if anyone was injured.
