UPDATE: The Cariboo Regional District has lifted the evacuation alert for portions of Green Lake, Horse Lake and Sheridan Lake as well as Canim Lake Area #2.

The partial lift applies to properties north of Green Lake and mainly south of Highway 24, with a few parcels on the north side also cleared. The area had been on evacuation alert since July 14, due to the Flat Lake fire southwest of 100 Mile House.

At Canim Lake, properties south of Eagle Creek Road and west towards Forest Grove are now also in the clear.

Officials noted in the announcement Tuesday afternoon that an alert or order may be reissued if necessary.

Original: An evacuation alert for 650 properties in South Green Lake has been rescinded to all clear “as the threat of wildfire in the area no longer poses an imminent risk to the safety of residents,” according to the Thompson Nicola Regional District.

The alert had been in effect since July 14, due to the Flat Lake wildfire.

The Flat Lake wildfire, last mapped at 52,801 hectares, remains classified as out of control.

The TNRD notes that should conditions change, an evacuation alert or evacuation order could be reinstated.
