Airport Road to change to Wrangler Way

Change of name to honour KIJHL team's accomplishments

District of 100 Mile House council has passed a resolution to change Airport Road to Wrangler Way at the council meeting on July 12.

The name change is council's want to commemorate the team on its outstanding run in the 2015/16 season.

It works for two reasons,” says Mayor Mitch Campsall.

The first is that when people drive down that road and see the [South Cariboo Rec. Centre], they think of the Wranglers. Also, there is the rodeo grounds right beside it and wrangler is another word for cowboy, so it works for both reasons.”

While the decision was passed by council, the residents who currently live along Airport Road must now be asked if they are in favour of the name change.

Council must also ensure there isn't another Wrangler Way in the Cariboo area for mailing interference purposes.

If both issues are resolved, council will move forward with the name change in the coming months.
