The Mill Site Lodge/Fischer Place Auxiliary’s annual Spring Raffle has returned to 100 Mile House.

Held every year to raise money for the auxiliary the raffle opened on April 1 and runs until June 15 with tickets being sold for $2 a piece. Both Carol England, the auxiliary’s president, and Deborah Palchuk, the auxiliary’s vice president, encourage the community to take part.

“Last year we made almost $1,500 off the raffle and we hope to do it again,” England said. “The draw is June 28, though we finish selling on June 15.”

Tickets can be purchased from Donex Pharmacy and Department Store, 100 Mile Feed and Ranch Supply, 100 Mile House Pharmasave, High Ground Café, Rise and Grind Coffee House, Home Hardware and Big Country Lanes to name a few. They’ll also be selling tickets at Save-On-Foods from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 3, May 10, May 15, May 31 and June 5.

This year those who enter the raffle have the chance to win six prizes, Palchuk said. This includes a grand prize of a print of Robert Bateman’s Haida Spirit valued at $350, $200 cash for second place, a bird feeder basket worth $100 for third, a green ribbon basket valued at $75 and two $25 gift certificates for Big Country Lanes for fifth and sixth place.

All proceeds from the raffle will go towards purchasing items for the residents of Mill Site Lodge and Fischer Place. England said these typically include comfort items such as snacks, kitchen appliances, stuffed animals and prizes for the residents’ biweekly bingo games.

Palchuk remarked the auxiliary is also looking for new volunteers and encourages anyone with time to consider joining them. Anyone looking to join can attend their next meeting on Thursday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m. at Fischer Place’s boardroom.
