July is fast approaching, and once again the Hootstock Music Festival is getting ready to provide some first class indie music to the folks of the Cariboo.
This is the fifth year for the Hootstock Festival. It will be held near Forest Grove at the Old Bradley Creek Schoolhouse on Eagle Creek Road on July 22-24.
This year's lineup includes some great bands, from the heavy rockin' music of Ninjaspy and local favourites Tax Free Liquor, to the really cool world music of Entandagos, and the funky get down band from Victoria, The Party on High Street, says co-organizer Astrid Hensey.
There will be something for everyone's taste, from Punk to Funk, from Folk to EDM, dancers and poets, she adds.
Hootstock has booked more than 30 acts to entertain for the weekend, with non stop performers on two stages.
Event co-organizer Steve Roy notes Hootstock is known for having some great food vendors and this year will be no different with the famous Hootstock Kitchen. The menu has vegetarian and vegan food, and features fire roasted pizza, Crepes by the Lake, Anna and Stepha's tacos, Seoul barbecue, Lucky Seven, and other great items, he adds.
There will be a static art display in the old schoolhouse with some exceptional art from locals and non-locals, as well as some really cool band merchandise, says Hensey.
"For anyone who hasn't been out to the Festival, check it out this year and you will find a family friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with some really cool vibes."
The organizers and volunteers are stoked about this year's Hootstock and have been working hard for the past year to make the magic happen, Roy says.

"Hootstock is the Cariboo's favourite grass roots festival, come and see for yourselves, tell all your friends," Hensey says.
"Hootstock is a non-corporate festival. We take no money from the government; we are truly a crowd-funded festival," Roy explains.
