The Cariboo Artist Guild (CAG) is hosting their monthly art gallery exhibit at the South Cariboo Business Centre. This month’s theme is “Into the Mist.”

CAG is a group of artists from across the Cariboo region. The CAG supports members who get together to explore the arts - they offer workshops and coordinate group art shows such as this one. The guild has been active since 1980. The theme of this month’s art exhibit is the presence of mist as a motif in art.

The artwork that is produced is shown in the lobby of the South Cariboo Business Centre.

Most of the paintings are also for sale - those who wish to purchase them can get in touch with the artist at the showcase.

Themes are often formulated once per month in a meeting - and the gallery usually goes up on the first Tuesday of every month.

Tracy McAvity, one of the members of the CAG, created a mosaic, called Bridgeline Mist, which captures a boat near a mist on water.

Bobbie Crane, another member, created an acrylic art piece called Misty Morning, which is an artistic rendition of mist on an early morning lake.

Finally, Neil Pinkett created an acrylic art piece called Path Finding, which depicts someone alone in a mountainous area, looking at the rocks, possibly trying to find a path.

The guild says that art is “always subjective” and that anything they produce is open to interpretation.

The business centre is open Mondays to Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. to noon.
