White Cane Club offering blowout deals

Thrift store anniversary celebrated at Cedar Crest on Oct. 23

A local group supporting people with vision loss will be hosting an anniversary sale this month, marking a "wonderful" year of community support and fundraising.

The Canadian Council of the Blind 100 Mile House and District Chapter White Cane Club will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of Sunday operations at Cedar Crest Thrift Store on Oct. 23.

The club will be offering "blowout prices" on many items, including Halloween costumes, house plants and more, says CCB vice-president Lori Fry.

The event – set to run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. – is a way to give thanks to those in the community who have been supporting the club's efforts, as well as to raise awareness about the thrift store being open for business by club volunteers on Sundays.

"We've had really good feedback from the community for those who are aware that we are there on Sundays.

"It has provided a steady source of revenue for the club, depending on the sales each week. It's been a wonderful collaboration between the club and Cedar Crest."

Lori notes it will be "worth your while" to come to the anniversary sale for some great deals and customers will have the opportunity to enter into a free draw with every purchase.
