Watch/Green lakes signs can save lives

There is a joint program between Watch Lake/North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD) and the 100 Mile House Lions Club for selling residential address signs in our area.

There is a joint program between Watch Lake/North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD) and the 100 Mile House Lions Club for selling residential address signs in our area.

In an emergency when every second counts, firefighters, police or medical emergency services may lose critical time if they cannot locate your home.

The signs are eight inches high by 16 inches wide and are made of engineer-grade aluminum with five-inch black numbers on a white, highly reflective background.

These signs,

when placed at the entrance of your driveway, can be easily seen in the day, at night and in bad weather and are approved by our fire department.

The signs cost $15 for single-sided and $25 for double-sided.

If you wish to order or have any questions, contact Gisele Poliseno at 250-395-9082.

The signs will be ordered in mid-spring. The WLMGLVFD will contact you for pickup or arrange to help you install your sign if you should need some assistance.

Christmas party

The Watch Lake & District Women’s Institute’s (WL&DWI) Christmas party and gift exchange was held at Lynda Krupp’s home on Dec. 14.

They had a male guest from Kamloops at the luncheon, as Russ Chambers of the Kamloops Foundation spoke about the foundation. He left a few brochures for

anyone interested in knowing about the foundation and these will be at the hall shortly.

Russ also took the time to have a look at our progress on the hall extension and said he was very impressed. A week later, the foundation requested photos of the work the volunteers have achieved.

Seven storyboards were quickly put together along with two more letters of support.

Now we must wait a few weeks for the results of our application.

The W.I. received a marvelous donation from Bob Mooney of Cleanway Supplies in Kamloops.

The company has supplied local businesses for many

years with excellent cleaning products and service.

Bob and his company donated all the washroom paper holders, garbage bins, baby change table, soap dispensers, dishwasher soap and the supplies to get the Watch Lake Community Hall (WLCH) started. Included in the cleaning supplies are a commercial mop and pail.

Twenty-three

more frozen apple pies are available at the hall.

Please call Helen Eagle at 250-456-2413 if you wish to buy some. All proceeds are designated for the WLCH upgrades.
