The nominations are in and voting has begun in the 100 Mile Free Press’ third annual South Cariboo #1 Reader’s Choice contest.

As in previous years, the Free Press is inviting the entire community to vote for their favourite businesses, services, professionals, community groups and destinations. Free Press publisher Martina Dopf said that community members can vote once per day in each of the 100 categories throughout the month until April 30.

“It really is a way to celebrate our business community and give them a big high-five for their services and products. Especially given today’s challenges with inflation, staffing shortages and online competition that our businesses are facing, we’d want to send them some love and appreciation for what they do every day,” Dopf said. “Our small businesses are the backbone of our economy and they all deserve to be celebrated.”

Dopf said that the winning businesses of the Reader’s Choice Awards will receive the bragging rights for being voted the 2024 South Cariboo #1 as well as a sticker for their storefront window and the digital “Voted the South Cariboo’s #1 Business” logo to use in their marketing. Categories include Best Grocery Store, Best Place for Coffee/Tea, Best Farmers Market, Best Clothing Store, Best Liquor Store, Best Retail, Best Tourist Spot, Best Local Artist, Best Dental Office and Best Auto Service/Repair to name but a few.

Voting is conducted online at: http://milehousefreepress.secondstreetapp.com/2024-South-Cariboos-1/.

The voters themselves also won’t be left out of the chance to win. By voting Dopf said you’re automatically entered into a draw for 100 Chamber Bucks donated by the South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce.

There will be five winners selected who will each receive 100 Chamber Bucks that can be spent at participating businesses across the South Cariboo.

The winners of the contest will be announced in the May 16 edition of the 100 Mile Free Press.
