People have until Jan. 31 to submit their nominations for the South Cariboo Chamber of Commerce 2010 Citizen of the Year.

“The response for Citizen of the Year has been good,” says chamber manager Christine Jordaan.

“I know of several nominations that are currently being developed [as in] letters of support being sought and nominations being written.”

Community members have been asked to nominate any person who has made an outstanding contribution of their time and energy for the betterment of the South Cariboo.

A committee, which will review nominations, is chaired by Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett and is made up of past award winners.

“The awards banquet will be held on April 16 in conjunction with the Academy Awards of Business,” Jordaan says, adding the venue is still to be chosen.

Nomination forms are available at the Chamber office, fascination street, and the Free Press.

The chamber is now accepting nominations for Academy Awards of Business in 10 different

categories, and they will be accepted until March 4.
