After slightly more than 10 years of living in Forest Grove

In January 2006, Diana and Roy Mezger bought their property in Forest Grove.

In early August of the same year, they left Vancouver Island to take possession.

During their 10 years of residing in their home, they got involved with the community during the summer months, while spending their winters in the warmth of the Bashford Hot Mineral Spa in Niland, California.

Roy, who is a musician, often took the lead on a Friday night at the Forest Legion during the weekly jamming sessions. He frequently partnered with Jill Hardcastle, Richard Minato and Gary Seminoff, with Ron Bratberg and Lorne Dumaresq also joining in once in a while.

Diana became a regular at the Forest Grove Walking Group, enjoyed playing baseball and regularly volunteered at the Legion. She also often attended the 50+ Club on Wednesdays, enjoying the company of friends, laughter and delicious lunches.

On Sept. 17, they are set to leave Forest Grove for Port Alberni to be closer to their children on Vancouver Island. They plan on loading their possessions into a U-Haul the day before to be ready to leave first thing in the morning.

The Legion has organized a farewell prime rib dinner in honour of Diana and Roy today (Sept. 8), starting at 6 p.m., with a jamming/music session starting at 5.
