Recreation commission executive officers election

After the Roe Lake & District Recreation Commission's (RLDRC) May 25 annual general meeting, Tim Ruscheinsky and Carolyn Charlton remain president and vice-president respectively.

Wendy Chase is secretary and Gyl Connaty has become treasurer.

Directors include AJ Dwyer, Andrea Glatz, Lorraine Jerema, Rene Lafavor, Joanne Levick, Dan Lytton, Marion Mickelsen, Christine Nadeau, Bud and Mary Ritchie, Barb Weston and Jim Zailo.

While most directors were either in mid-term or re-elected, Jerema and Zailo have returned to the board after an absence; and new resident Lafavor was elected for the first time.

RLDRC manages the Interlakes Hall and grounds, and the Interlakes Rodeo Grounds on behalf of all Interlakes residents who own the complex.

Interlakes Community Association (ICA), which has the same board of directors as RLDRC, is the body that runs the events.

Raffle tickets

Interlakes Volunteer Fire Department's (IVFD) annual raffle is underway.

Tickets cost $2 each, three for $5 or a book of 10 for $15, and can be found at Bridge Lake Store, Loon Bay Market every Saturday, or from any firefighter. They will also be available in Cariboo Mall on several occasions.

Prizes include the quilt donated by the Log Cabin Quilters, hand-tied flies donated by Doug Townsend, two nights at Greenlees on the Lake, a first-aid kit from Mediserve, and three $50 gift certificates donated by Interlakes Market.

Winners will be drawn at IVFD's annual general meeting at Interlakes Hall on Aug. 25.

Lions news

Highway 24/Interlakes Lions have discontinued meetings until September, but they continue to fundraise throughout the summer and look forward to residents' support.

As of July 1, their new executive includes president Harry Bishop, first vice-president Leroy Wright, second vice-president Don Charlton, secretary Linda Bishop, treasurer Darlene Furber, and directors Carolyn Charlton, Kathy Sanness and Al Bishop. Harv Allen is membership retention chair and past president.

Each year, the Lion of the Year is selected by secret ballot, and at the June 6 meeting, the winner was revealed as Darlene Furber.
