Raffle tickets for great prizes still on sale

The Watch Lake/North Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (WLNGLVFD) Auxiliary members are still busy selling raffle tickets.

The next raffle ticket sale days will be May 12 at the Save-On-Foods in 100 Mile House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and May 19 and 20 at the Cariboo Mall in 100 Mile from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

People interested in purchasing tickets from a member can call the writer at 250-395-9082.

 

Bake and garage sale

The WLNGLVFD Auxiliary's bake and garage sale is slated for May 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Sonny Johnson Memorial Fire Hall, 5771 North Green Lake Rd. There will be plenty of baked goods for sale as well as a variety of items from the garage sale. The firefighters will be selling breakfast sandwiches from 9 to 11 a.m., and hotdogs and hamburgers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pop, water and coffee will be sold during the event. The auxiliary will also have ice cream cones to sell.

People interested in purchasing apple pies prior to the day of the sale, can contact the writer or Helen Eagle at 250-456-2413.

Racing balls

The Watch Lake-Green Lake Community Association's (WLGLCA) Running of the Balls is on May 22 at the Gymkhana Grounds just west of the Little Horse Lodge, off North Green Lake Road.

While the concession opens at 11:30 a.m., the first heat starts at 1:30 p.m. A number of heats will run with the first six balls from each of the heats to be pulled and then all balls pulled will be entered into the final heat.

The first three from the final heat will win cash prizes. Other prizes may be available depending on donations.

The golf balls are now on sale at the Watch Lake Lodge, Little Horse Lodge and Tall Timbers. They are $5 each with only 200 available. They may be purchased on site depending on availability.

• The next meeting of the WLGLCA is on May 16 at the Watch Lake Community Hall. The social is at 7 p.m., the meeting starts at 7:30 p.m.

• The Watch Lake & District Women’s Institute meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month at the Watch Lake Community Hall. Social and crafts are at 11 a.m., the meeting commences at 12:30 p.m. Bring a lunch.
