The Canim Lake Store is much more than a place to pick up a few groceries, the mail, some directions and if you’re lucky a fishing tip or two.

May 27 the parking lot will be the spot to catch the Canim Lake Community Club’s annual Plant and Bake Sale. Club members have been hard at work this spring planting up seedlings and divisions of perennials guaranteed to be a success in our area.

Treats on offer will be a surprise, but you’d best get there early to get the best selection.

Local crafters will be there as well to tempt you with handmade treasures. Rounding out the day there will be the (now) famous Beef on a Bun, a secret recipe cooked up by club members for lunch.

It’s a great way to meet the neighbours if you’re new to the area or just visiting. Come on out and experience a good old fashioned fun time.

Tables for your own crafts or plant starts may still be available for a $10.00 fee, please call Yvette at 250-397-2025.

Festivities should be underway at 10 a.m. and continue until at least 2 p.m. You can find the Canim Lake Store at 7296 Canim Lake South Road, or call 250-397-2229.

While you’re at the store now’s the time to ask for directions and continue on to Mahood Falls for some spectacular photo opportunities! I’ll be out shooting the falls (with a camera, not in a barrel) right after the sale and I’m hoping the twin falls are in all their Spring run-off glory.

It’s an easy 20 minute or so walk to the falls from the parking spots and the trail is well maintained and scenic in its own right.
