New executive welcomed

100 Mile Festival of the Arts elects new executive

The 100 Mile Festival of the Arts saw a changing of the guard at its annual general meeting, held June 13.

Eleanor Nicoll, a 29-year member of the organization who had held the president’s seat for the past five years, gave it up to former director Mary Ann Robertson.

Nicoll says she felt it was time for someone else to take over the reins and had told the committee one year ago that she would not stand for president again.

At the meeting, no new nominations for president came from the floor until Nicoll suggested a co-chair format.

Roberston and Marilyn Buyar agreed to share the position, with Buyar officially taking on the position of vice-president.

Krisztine Fur allowed her name to stand again for secretary and

Annie McKave took on the position of treasurer.

Nicoll says the organization has a full executive committee for the 2011/12 year and a number of new members attended the meeting.

The first Festival of the Arts meeting with the new executive will be held on Sept. 2. For details, contact Robertson at 250-395-4302.
