Judy Lauzon was given a special luncheon and thank-you for her 11 years of service by the Cariboo Family Enrichment Centre board.

“She is incredible,” says board chair Sheila Hart.

“She is a natural care-giver who has inspired and encouraged many people through her example of unstinting dedication and service. In fact, she recruited me.”

Lauzon was attracted to the board by former member Robbie Wingert. To understand the work of the organization better, she involved herself as a child-minder, caring for children while their mothers participated in a program. That role grew to the point she was there most days of the week, supporting mothers in the sewing, Mother Goose, community kitchen and adult tutoring programs.

Lauzon says she loved the child-minding.

“The people I worked for were phenomenal, so supportive, it was a family. You felt the unity.

She now volunteers closer to home, helping with the reading program and speech arts classes at the Forest Grove Community School.
