Lac la Hache calm during the holidays

Barbara Hansen's weekly correspondence about Lac la Hache

Happy New Year everyone!

I think I joined the majority of Lac la Hache people and became sickly right after Christmas with that terrible cold and cough flu bug. It has been 10 days and I'm only feeling somewhat better now.

With it being the holiday season not too much has been happening in the community thus far. The arena held its first public skating session on Jan. l which only a few people attended. Other skating events are starting up also. I really think this cold weather has a lot to do with people wanting to stay warm and not venturing out.

On behalf of the Lac la Hache Community Club, I would like to thank the community supporting us in all the events which we have hosted. 2016 was a great year with many positive things happening. Great fundraising for the arena, better than ever Garlic Festival, tons of fun at all the bingo nights and finally the hard work by Judy and her crew running the Thrift Store. We should all be proud of ourselves for a job well done and continue on doing a great job in 2017.

Gale Ogden reports that her fitness classes will commence at the Seniors Center on Monday, Jan. 9 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Zumba and strength and balance classes at 10.30 a.m. Tuesdays are for cardio at 9:30 a.m. and Pilates at 10:30 a.m. Contact Gale at 396-7381 for more information.

Gale also reports that the Ladies Hockey Team uses the arena on Monday nights and welcomes all spectators to their games. The first game starts at 6:45 p.m. and the second game starts at 8:15 p.m.
