It takes a big heart to ride a big bike

The Heart and Stroke Big Bike is a fun way to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Once again, April Roberts is team building, and she needs 15 more people to complete the required 29 needed to ride the big bike.

"This year, I'm doing it in my fathers' honour."

Roberts adds her father passed away at the age of 62 from a stroke.

"It’s called T.I.B.'s team; his name was Thomas Ian Black Jones."

The call for more members comes with plenty of time to sign up and raise the minimum pledge of $50, as the event takes place in the afternoon on May 30.

"This event is to raise awareness of the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and if our team gets enough votes, we have a chance to win a defibrillator."

The foundation has added the chance to win CPR training and an automated external defibrillator (AED) installed in their community on the team's behalf, she says, adding the team has to upload a picture of itself and provide a description of all the ways the team shows heart.

"I think we did the loop three times last year. We start at Save-On-Foods, go up Birch, around Safeway and down the highway back to Save-on-Foods."

Folks who don't want to join the team are welcome to make pledges.
