Horse Lake Co-op wants you to take a walk

The Horse Lake Community Farm Co-operative (HLCFC) is holding its Fourth Annual Bird Walk on May 29.

For the second consecutive year, a botany walk is being added.

"Kristi Iverson and Ken Mackenzie volunteered to guide our walk again this year," says HLCFC member Rob Diether. "They are both biologists and Kristi really knows her plants."

In the past, there have been more than 45 varieties of birds identified during the walk, Diether says, adding the walk takes people along the lake and through fields to explore the waterfowl, nesting birds, as well as having the wild plants identified.

"The walk is about three hours. People should bring water or refreshments, wear the proper foot wear and be prepared for the weather.

"They may want to bring their binoculars. too, although it's not necessary."

The bird and botany walk is by donation, and it starts at 8 a.m. at 6298 Doman Rd., which is at the far eastern end of Horse Lake.
