Folks asked to help a farmer in need

South Cariboo Sustainability Society hosting permaculture work bee on Sept. 12

By Peter Jarvis

The Sept. 12 permaculture workshop, which was part of the South Cariboo Sustainability Society's permaculture series, is being replaced with a one-day work bee on Sept. 12.

The work bee will held at Jane and Peter Murray's Permaculture Centre at Pine Hills Ranch near Sheridan Lake from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.

A family emergency has delayed the weekend Permaculture Workshop at the Peter and Jane Murray’s place until next spring. Peter has spent most of the summer in the United Kingdom looking after his mother, and as a result, Jane has been scrambling to keep the farm going on her own.

With the hot, dry weather, she’s had plenty to do, especially since they planted enough to keep both of them busy.

Instead we’re organizing a work bee to help Jane. There’ll be plenty to do, but we’ll still have plenty of time to see and learn about permaculture practises and farming in the Cariboo.

You will get some healthy exercise, but tasks will be adjusted to physical abilities. It should be fun with permaculture discussion over a potluck lunch and we can give a much-needed helping hand.
