A fundraiser fishing derby at Crystal Lake on Aug. 20-21 will benefit the BC Neurofibromatosis Foundation (BCNF).

Fishing for a Cure organizers Rob and Traci Parks are holding the event for a disease that has afflicted children in the 100 Mile area.

Rob invites everyone to come out this weekend and help raise funds and awareness and to help find a cure for neurofibromitosis.

"The more we raise right now the better, because BCNF is still an disease unknown to many people. We just want people to come out and have fun while we help to find a cure."

The entry fee for the derby is $10 per person or $30 for a family, which includes a barbecue dinner on Saturday night.

Early birds may begin when they like on Saturday and the final weigh-in winds up on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Fishing prizes and door prizes will be awarded, 50/50 draws will be going on and fundraiser tee-shirts, hats and other items may be purchased.

To find the lake, take Highway 24 and then exit south on the Bridge Lake Business Route for approximately 5 kilometres, travelling past the Bridge Lake Store to the signs at Crystal Lake Park.

More information on the fishing derby is available by calling Traci at 250-395-1819 or email chicco_6973@hotmail.com.
