The 70 Mile House Volunteer Fire Department was called to a grass fire just up the road from the fire hall on the afternoon of March 31.
Residents were burning off dead grass and the fire got away from them.
This could have been serious if the firefighters had not attended immediately.
Poker tourney
The next poker tournament has been changed to April 17 at Pattie’s Poker Palace.
Doors open at 11 a.m. and play gets underway at noon.
Bingo night
The next bingo night will be held April 14.
The doors at Seventy Mile Access Centre (SMAC) will open at 5:30 p.m. and play starts at 6:30.
SMAC news
SMAC will hold its annual general meeting on April 16 at noon at the centre.
