On the morning of Nov. 6, the 70 Mile Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire on Highway 97 south of town.
When firefighters arrived, the house was fully involved and trees behind the house were burning. Hydro lines were down on the driveway, so fire trucks parked on the highway and ran hoses to the fire.
Traffic control was established on the highway.
The house was not occupied, but the previous tenant had moved to 100 Mile House and was in the process of moving goods out when the fire occurred.
Santa Parade float
The South Green Lake Snowmobile Club will have a float in the Santa Claus parade in 100 Mile House on Nov. 25.
Potluck dance
The Snowflake Dance sponsored by the South Green Lake Snowmobile Club will be held Nov. 19 at its clubhouse.
Cocktails are at 6 p.m. and dinner starts at 7. Everyone is welcome. If you can, take a food or dessert dish.
Meat Draw
The Dusty Rose will be donating the proceeds of the meat draw on Nov. 12 to the South Green Lake Volunteer Fire Department (SGLVFD) building fund.
Later that evening, Ernie Doyle will be entertaining at the pub.
Address signs
The SGLVFD estimates that 50 per cent of properties on that side of the lake have reflective address signs.
These signs are a big help to emergency vehicles looking for addresses. There is a possibility of the program continuing next year. An announcement will come later.
If you would like a sign, be prepared to place an order.
Crafty bake sale
Don't forget the bake and craft sale at the 70 Mile Community Hall on Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is a good place to start Christmas shopping and also pick up some baked goods.
Bookmobile
The Thompson Nicola bookmobile will be in the area on Nov. 17.
It will be at the South Green Lake fire hall from 10 to 11 a.m., and at the 70 Mile General Store from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
