Fire Department needs a few good men and women

Community news happening around the Clinton area of the South Cariboo

The Clinton Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) is looking for new members.

If you are interested in protecting your community, are reasonably fit and would like to get involved, give the department a try. Training is provided.

The CVFD meets every Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the fire hall on Lebourdais Avenue. Drop by and learn more about what they do.

Christmas hampers

Residents can find boxes for food donations and cans for monetary donations throughout Clinton.

The food and funds are used to create Christmas hampers to be distributed to needy individuals and families in Ashcroft, Cache Creek and Clinton.

If you have a little extra to share, just drop it into one of the containers in Clinton businesses.

Anyone wishing to receive a Christmas hamper can apply at the Elizabeth Fry Society Office, 601 Bancroft St., in Ashcroft. Photo identification and proof of residency are required.

Thrift shop opens

Many people were disappointed when the United Church thrift shop closed, but now Clinton has a new thrift shop.

Tickle Trunk Thrift Shop has now opened in the Blue Barn at 1300 Cariboo Hwy. It is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The new shop will hold a “bag day” on Nov. 25.

PAC auction

The David Stoddart School Parents Advisory Council (PAC) will host its annual dinner and auction Nov. 26 in Clinton Memorial Hall.

This is an important fundraising event for the PAC. The funds they raise help supply those extras the school budget just doesn't cover. This includes books, computers and programs, school trips and more.

This is folks chance to have a really fun evening out, enjoy a lovely dinner, get a few items for people on their Christmas lists and help our students all at the same time.

Tickets are available at the school and at Integris Insurance office in Clinton.

Snow Jockey AGM

The Clinton Snow Jockey Club will hold its annual general meeting and election of officers Nov. 30 at the Clinton Library, starting at 7 p.m.

Any one interested in cross-country skiing is welcome to attend.

Clinton has some fantastic cross-country ski trails. Attend the meeting and learn how you can help the club that keeps them maintained.
