Fire Department attends accident

Victor Popiel’s regular correspondence for the 70 Mile area

On Feb. 27 the 70 Mile House volunteer fire department was called out to attend to a head-on collision on Highway 97 in front of the 70 Mile General Store.

There were no serious injuries but it took several hours to clear the vehicles.

Speed and weather were contributing factors.

SMAC news

A general meeting will be held on Mar. 14 at 10 a.m. at SMAC. All are welcome to attend.

The AGM will be held April 14. Reports for the past year will be presented and there will be an election of officers. All are welcome to attend but only members may vote.

VFD news

A reminder that fire practices are held on the first and third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the fire hall on Willow Road. New volunteers are encouraged to attend.


The Thompson Nicola book van will be here on March 15. It will be at the 70 Mile Community Hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
