Gary Young hands his autographed Don Cherry suit jacket to Penny Reid for the April 9 Lac la Hache Elementary School dinner/auction.

The Lac la Hache Elementary School Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is holding its annual dinner/auction on April 9 at the Lac la Hache Community Hall.

Longtime local resident Egon Jensen will be the auctioneer for the last time in our community, as he and his wife, Rita, are moving away at the end of April.

The dinner starts at 6 p.m. with the auction beginning at 7. Tickets are $8 for a single person and $30 for a family of four or more.

The Hungry Bear Diner is providing the ham, and Rose Stenberg will be cooking her famous scalloped potatoes.

Items for the auction are slowly coming in if anyone wishes to donate something to the auction, it would be greatly appreciated.

So far, some of the auction items include: Pioneer Log Homes is making a coffee table; Sitka Log Homes will be donating a garden bench; a 22-inch LCD TV with a built-in DVD player and it comes with 3 months of free movie rentals; a portable DVD player with one month of free video rentals; and a weekend at Ten-ee-ah Lodge for two.

Proceeds from the auction are going towards the school's year-end field trip and to purchase sports equipment for the students.

There will also be a unique, and probably highly sought after, item on the auction block.

Local resident Gary Young has donated an authentic, autographed Don Cherry blazer with monogrammed cuffs for the fundraiser. Revenue from this item will be split between the Lac la Hache Minor Hockey program and the elementary school.

Tickets are available at the school, Hungry Bear Diner and the Lac la Hache Food Mart.

People who have an item to donate or any questions should call the school at 250-396-7230.
