100 Mile House Elementary School held its annual Geography Challenge on Jan. 19 in the school gymnasium.
Students, parents and teachers packed the gym to watch, as the Grade 4-7 contestants battled with their brains for the championships.
Austin Appleby, Grade 7, was the
overall winner and will be writing a qualifying exam to compete at the provincial competition in the spring. Last year, Appleby was the overall Grade 4-6 winner.
In Grade 7 competition, a four-way tie for gold included Tyler Pizzey, Damaris Walt, Kyle Johnstone and Brooke Martin. Silver went to Mikayla Mosher and bronze was awarded to Chester Sampson.
In the Grade 4-6 division, Kurtis Severin was the overall champion, and Alora Pettman, Grade 5, won gold.
Anya Levermann and Nick Loiselle-Plourde shared a two-way tie for silver and the trio of Ashley Holyk, Brandon Balbirnie and David Walt shared bronze.
