Doesn’t seeing all that sunshine recently make you think that spring has finally sprung? We have had quite a few nice days but what I don’t like is the start of the big thaw! So far I have heard murmurings of basements flooding, roofs leaking, walls leaking, roofs collapsing, water pooling up in lower driveways and then there is me – one foot of slush sitting on my driveway making it hard to get in and out from home.

Coffeehouse

I missed talking about the last coffeehouse session. As usual, there was an abundance of good talent, fun and fellowship time. The next scheduled session will be the first Friday in May, would be nice to catch one this season for sure!

Ladies hockey

The ladies hockey team sure did have a super great fun night on March 10 judging by the pics I have seen and the comments I have heard! They are all looking forward to next year already.

The arena is now closed for the season as of March 15 and the process of removing the ice will be commencing. Many thanks to all the volunteers who worked so hard throughout the year to keep it up and running and to the folks doing all the fundraising enabling us to do so.

Bingo

Bingo sure is heating up at the Community Hall on Wednesday evenings! We have a couple of good pots up for grabs plus the big progressive jackpot. Plans are in the works to have the Easter Ham bingo on March 28, come on out and join in the fun – you will be guaranteed to have a super great time!

Easter Egg Hunt

The Community Club is also having an Easter Egg Hunt for the kiddies at the Community Hall on Sunday, April 1 at 1 p.m. Not sure at this time if the goodies will be hidden outside or inside the hall, it all depends on the weather of course. Come prepared with your own basket though. This will be a fun afternoon with some games happening, cup cake decorating contest and the concession will also be open for snacks. Everyone is welcome to attend, come on out and join in the fun.

Garlic cookbook

This is a bit of new news; I will be working on another volume of the garlic cookbook for this years Garlic Fest. I would invite and ask all to please send me your garlicky recipes so that they can get included. Please email me at bmaehansen@gmail.com and don’t forget to give me your name and phone number in case I have any questions and perhaps your location so that it can be included. Thanking you all in advance lets make it a winner!

Condolences

Condolences to the family and friends of Paul Gauthier aged 61 who passed away suddenly on March 8.

Paul was from a big family and will truly be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
