The 70 Mile House Volunteer Fire Department (70MHVFD) is having a Christmas raffle and the prizes will include a hamper with a turkey and other goodies.
Tickets are $2 and are available at Mandy's Restaurant and the 70 Mile General Store.
Poker winners
The 70 Mile Community Club held a poker tournament on Oct. 1 at the community hall.
There were 24 players and the winners were: first, Elaine Pattie; second, Cindy Craig; third, Rick Hunter, fourth, Gerry Cahoon; and fifth, Pat Lachance.
The next tournament will be held Nov. 12.
Firefighters meeting
The 70MHVFD will hold a general meeting on Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. at the fire hall on Willow Drive, and everyone is welcome.
Volunteer firefighters are needed, as are volunteers to sell tickets and work at projects. Only a few hours per month will help the cause greatly.

Bookmobile
The Thompson-Nicola bookmobile will be in the area on Oct. 27.
It will be at the South Green Lake fire hall from 10 to 11 a.m. and at the 70 Mile General Store from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Hot Vegas Nights
Tickets for this event to be held on Oct. 22 are on sale for $20 and include $5 in chips that can be used at the tables.
There will be wheels of fortune, black jack, slots and Texas shootout. Doors open at 4 p.m. and roast beef dinner is served at 6 p.m.
After dinner, there will be a silent auction. The tables will be open before and after dinner.
