70 Mile bursary accepting applications

The 70 Mile and Area Community Fund is offering a bursary for furthering education or skills training. Anyone can qualify, young or old, if you have a connection to the 70 Mile House, Green Lake, Watch Lake and surrounding area. You can apply by sending a letter of 300-500 words stating your education plans and connection to the area and include any volunteer, community service, and extra-curricular activities, to The 70 Mile & Area Fund, c/o Sue Wheeler, Box 29, 70 Mile House, B.C., V0K 2K0. 70 Mile VFD

The 70 Mile House Volunteer Firefighters Association will hold their annual general meeting on March 12 at the fire hall on Willow Road at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

A practice will be held on March 21 at the fire hall at 7:00 p.m. New members are welcome.

 

SMAC

The Seventy Mile Access Centre will hold their annual general meeting on April 8 at 12 noon at the centre. There will be an election of officers and only members are eligible to vote. You can join by contacting any of the volunteers at the centre 2545 N. Bonaparte Road.

 

Poker

The next monthly poker tournament will be held March 11 at Elaine's Poker Palace, 2489 N. Bonaparte Road. Play begins at 12 noon.

 

Bingo

There were 14 players on Feb. 28 and the g-ball pot now stands at $387. The next bingo is March 14 at SMAC, doors open at 6:30 and play starts at 7:00 p.m.

 

The stork has arrived

Samantha and Dylan Jesse are the proud parents of a baby girl. Josephine Elise was born Feb. 17 and weighed 4 lb 8 oz.

Mother and baby are doing fine.

 

Bookmobile

The Thompson Nicola bookmobile will be in the area on March 23. It will be at the South Green Lake fire hall from 10 to 11 a.m. and at the 70 Mile General Store from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
