A new Internet radio program geared to the Cariboo will be online at CaribooRadio.Com every weekday morning beginning April 2.

Robert Stockford will join the Internet radio network in 100 Mile House to host a new morning show from 7 to 11 a.m., Monday through Friday.

"Getting involved with the Internet radio in this area, and on the ground floor, is just really exciting,” he says.

"The Internet is the future; it's growing in leaps and bounds."

Stockford says he has written and announced radio advertisements for years for various employers, and some folks may recognize his voice from past Meridian RV commercials on previous local radio shows.

Now, he's going from the airwaves to cyberspace where Stockford will host a morning show with events on the spot, news as it happens and community-support features from across the Cariboo region.

People who see traffic jams or extreme road or weather conditions can text the information to 250-644-8008 and CaribooRadio.Com will get it out to listeners, he adds.

Station owner Rob Fry says Stockford will also appear in person to announce all events covered on location, noting these will be broadcast with professional loudspeakers like the "good old days."

"Using today's technology and taking radio back 40 years" is how Fry describes his plans for promotional coverage and give-aways at community, business and non-profit events.

"It's a real mix of music for the person who just wants to listen to a little bit of everything. I encourage them to tune in and get local content as well."

Local elements will include everything of interest streaming through the community pulse in the Cariboo, he adds.

Fry is looking for details of local fundraising events and asks anyone with such information to e-mail it to info@caribooradio.com or call him at 250-706-9611.
