100 Mile Elementary School hosted their annual Track and Field Day on May 25.

Initially planned for the day before, the high winds and rain that wrecked havoc all over the Cariboo delayed the event.

The delay worked in favour of the students. With the sunny, but still cool weather, students displayed their skills all over the field at the school.

Intermediate students from Grades 4 to 7 participated in a series of track and field events, ranging from long jump and triple jump, to shot put and high jump, the 800m and 200m runs and the 100m dash.

The top two students for each sport from each grade will compete against the rest of the schools in the South Cariboo at the inter-school track meet at 100 Mile Elementary School on June 8.

The Rotary Club of 100 Mile House ran a concession at the school, serving hot dogs, juice, water and oranges to the students during their long day of sports.

All proceeds from the concession were donated to Kidsport, an organization that helps under-resourced youth participate in organized sports.
