Commercial vehicles targeted in overnight shootings along Hwy 97

Police are in search of a four door 2009 Dodge Caliber with Ontario license plate CAVM918 described as dirty in connection with a series of vehicle shootings that occured overnight March 24 and 25.

UPDATE: Police say they have arrested a suspect in Chilliwack B.C. in connections to the series of shootings.

The North District RCMP are seeking public assistance in locating a vehicle connected to a series of vehicle shootings that occured overnight over an eight hour period on March 24 and 25.

A number of semi-trucks were shot at, according to a police press release.

The suspect vehicle has been identified as a blue 2009 Dodge Caliber with four doors. The vehicle has been described as "dirty." It has an Ontario license plate: CAVM918

Between 8:30 pm on Friday March 24th and 2:45 am on Saturday March 25th, North District OCC received numerous calls of a vehicle on Hwy 97, shooting out radiators and windows of semi-tractor trailers while being operated.

Reports of shots fired at semi-trucks were received near Houston, Burns Lake, Vanderhoof, Clucuz Lake, Prince George, Quesnel and 100 Mile House.

RCMP have determined that the suspect vehicle was last seen travelling southbound on Hwy 97 at 93 Mile. There have been no reported injuries to date.

"North District Major Crime is leading the investigation and resources from around B.C. are assisting all efforts to locate the suspect. Police are urging the public to report any information or sightings as soon as possible to call 911.” says Cpl Madonna Saunderson ‎

Police are urging all commercial truck drivers to inspect their vehicles and report any damage they feel is suspicious in nature to their local police department immediately

The public should consider this individual armed and dangerous and should not approach this person. If you have seen the suspect vehicle please call 911.
