With appreciation to Sonja Olsen, Al & Jesse Boyce, and Jerry for all their hard work on the trails, Mountain Spruce Community Park (6335 Mahood Lake Road) is ready for its free Full Moon Snowshoe/Walk from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24.

Enjoy hot chocolate ($2) and a fire to roast marshmallows. Travel through the Light Walk and across the bridge, then head into the wilderness lit by your headlamp. You will feel connected to the park and sky so bring your telescope. All ages are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult.

Condolences

Residents were devastated to learn that Dan Wiebe passed away Feb. 2. An indispensable Deka firefighter who looked after truck maintenance for many years until ill health forced his resignation, Dan will be sorely missed. There will be no service, but a celebration of life is anticipated at the house in the summer.

Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Lorna, their family and myriad friends.

Deka Ladies

Auxillary

The Deka Ladies Auxillary donated $500 to the South Cariboo Health Foundation’s 2023 Starry Nights project, for a patient-monitoring computer system costing some $80,000; and thanks members for their faithful support of this cause.

The health foundation announced that phenomenal community support actually raised $103,641!
