Thanks to a lucky snowfall, The Fishing Highway 24 Tourist Association’s (FH24) Outhouse Race went ahead after all, complemented by games such as throwing the toilet seat, and plunger darts. Congratulations to the winning race team, TP Cruisers. Rainbow Spirit Retreat’s “Pooper” won the Best Outhouse and Costumes prize, a gift basket donated by The Iron Horse.

But, sadly, they had to cancel their February 24 Sheridan Ice-Fishing Derby because the ice wasn’t sufficient enough for their insurance requirements.

Still, many thanks must go to FH24 for bending and twisting to suit our peculiar weather!

Interlakes Community Centre (ICC)

On March 30, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., all ages are invited to their Easter Egg Hunt in the Park at 6335 Mahood Lake Road. Enjoy a concession and warm fire, hunt for a magic egg and/or win one of many prizes. No charge but donations are always welcome.

Deka Ice

Fishing Derby

Deka Lake & District Volunteer Firefighters’ Society’s ( DLDVFS) Family Day event cancelled the ice-fishing component due to unsafe ice. However, the raffle and some door prizes went ahead. Hotdogs were available, as well as hot beverages generously provided courtesy of Ken Kineshanko of Cleanway Supply. Organizers are most appreciative of ticket buyers and those who donated prizes, all of whom were contacted before the event and graciously chose to leave things be.

The 50/50 winner of $645: Sherie McCrae of Deka Lake.

Raffle winners:

First prize, $500: Bill Whitehead of Sheridan Lake;

Second, custom firepit: Sherri Thompson of 105 Mile;

Third, $200: Deb Delyzer of Kamloops.

DLDVFS is grateful to everyone who attended and looks forward to seeing them again on February 15, 2025.

Greetings

A special happy birthday to all those who celebrate today, February 29; and warm birthday wishes to Pat Lytton.
