To the editor:
Why is it that we in British Columbia let so much of the water in our rivers pour out into the sea without making any effort to harness its energy first?
For decades and decades, Europe has been using free-run-hydro to ensure their water is not wasted and is used in a responsible way to produce clean electricity.
As this water rushes out into the sea, so too does the clean energy it could have provided to power our homes, schools and hospitals across the province and beyond. And there goes our potential legacy for future generations.
It just doesn’t make sense. Whether we use it or sell it, it’s time to be responsible and harness this clean source of power.
