At February 24’s Full Moon Snowshoe Walk, Lindsay Houghton was the happy recipient of the participation draw, a gift certificate from The Country Pedlar.

The Mountain Spruce Community Centre’s next special event is the Easter Basket Centrepiece workshop with Lake Thyme Floral, at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 27. The cost is $45 and space is limited. All supplies are included for you to take home a beautiful floral centrepiece for your Easter celebration. Pre-register as above.

Then it’s the Easter Egg Hunt for all ages at MSC Park (6335 Mahood Lake Road) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 30; no fee.

Another Mystery-Box Team Cooking Challenge is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 11; fee $18. Randomly selected teams will receive a box of strange/unusual mystery ingredients that must be used and a cooking method.

They have 90 minutes to produce a main course, two sides and dessert, and serve it. Participants get to eat it, so come hungry! Prizes will be awarded after three mystery judges fulfill their duties. Pre-register as above.

An adults-only licensed Games Night will be back on April 27, from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Tickets, $5, are only sold in advance, so get yours soon. Beer, wine and cider will be available for $5; non-alcoholic wine $4; pop/water $2; complimentary coffee. No outside beverages or containers are permitted in the hall. Pre-register as above.

To register/reserve space for any event, e-transfer to mtnspruce@gmail.com including name and phone number. No refunds.

Condolences

Deka residents are again grieving a great loss with Danny Jenewein passing away unexpectedly on February 27, at the age of 82. A working commercial fisherman and a gentleman of quiet opinions, Danny will be sadly missed. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Joice, their family and so very many friends.

Interlakes

Community Centre

Guided by Deka’s experienced Pat Pasanen and Lorna Wiebe, ICC’s very first Bingo afternoon was a roaring success for 90 players from near and far, such that even short power outages did not deter them! Special thanks go to the many volunteers who assisted ICC Director Dolores Casellato with her first well-organized foray into the very popular event. Bingo will run on the fourth Sunday afternoon of each month, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with doors opening at noon.

ICC is also offering the Easter Basket Centrepiece workshop, at 6 p.m., on Thursday, March 28. Reserve/e-transfer $45 to lakethymefloral@gmail.com or in person at ICC, Mon-Thurs, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Interlakes Volunteer Fire Department (IVFD)

IVFD is hosting an Open House at ICC from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 23. Enjoy meeting your firefighters, tour the engines, try on gear and work a hose! All emergency services, and the CRD’s Area L Director and Fire Smart Educator, will be there. Hotdogs by donation; bottle drive; 50/50 draw.

Greetings

Birthday bubbly goes to Polly Black, Vicky Granberg, Joanne Levick, Claire Myers, Emma West and Gary Cleveland.
