March 2, 1936 - Dec. 4, 2006
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Merv on Dec. 4 after a brief illness. Merv came to the Cariboo in 1989. Shortly thereafter he and Maggie operated BJ’s Donuts for three years. They ran the 108 Café until 1998 and, again, on his 69th birthday, he took back the 108 Café until Nov. 24, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Maggie and her children: Brian Pugh and Cheryl David. Merv was a true character who loved to make people laugh and verbally spar with them. He will be greatly missed by all. The 108 Café will be open on Sat., Dec. 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for anyone wishing to casually drop in and say goodbye. This is not a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the 100 Mile and District General Hospital or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
