1946-2010

It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Gary William MacKay. Gary passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at approximately 11:45 p.m, at the 100 Mile District and General Hospital, at the age of 64 years, following a long battle with cancer.

Gary will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Avis, sisters Judy MacKay, Sandra MacKay (Allan), and niece Stephanie MacKay, his uncle Jack Lordon, aunt Dina Mann (Kathy and Kristopher), aunt Gayle (Stephen Lordon

and family, Gary Lordon and family), three cousins Carol Deacon (Heather), Wayne Deacon (Mary), Tommy Deacon and family, and by his many relatives in New Brunswick, Ontario and B.C.

He was predeceased by his mother Margaret Lordon, father Frank MacKay, his grandparents, uncle Bill, Aunt Helen, and Uncle Jim.

Gary was born in Toronto on September 16, 1946; he later moved to and was raised in New Brunswick by his beloved grandmother Ina Faye Lordon, and Danny Lordon. He left New Brunswick after graduation to work as an electrician in Toronto and remained there for a few years, and then

moved to Vancouver, B.C. where he and Avis lived and worked. In 1995 Gary and Avis left Vancouver to retire in the

Cariboo, at 70 Mile House and they remained there until his

passing.

Gary had a great sense of humor; he loved to tease people, especially his sister Sandra, and he was always ready to help out those in need. Gary was the happiest when he was in nature, fishing and hunting. Avis and Gary especially enjoyed exploring the B.C. North, and they had many other wonderful trips together.

The family would like to thank the staff and medical team for their support and kindness, and a special thank you to his family physician Dr. Lapin.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Gary’s last wishes were to be remembered as he was, that he be cremated and there be no service.
