On Wednesday, July 9, 2008, Mrs. Freda Anna Bray of Bridge Lake, B.C. passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 69. She is survived by her loving husband Wallace “Wally”, her daughters Marlene Hupe (Allan) of Kamloops, and Darlene Bray (Keith Byers) of Prince George; son Paul Bray (Becky Kwasny) of Hinton, Alta.; her very special granddaughter Megan Byers; her mother Julia Rieger of Kamloops; her brothers Charlie Rieger (Diane) and Leo Rieger (Shirley) of Nanaimo; her sisters Elaine Haberstock of Big Valley, Alta.; Evelyn Nelson (Danny) of Kamloops and Donna Basran (George) of Kelowna and numerous nieces and nephews. Freda was predeceased by her father, Joseph Rieger and brother-in-law Edwin Haberstock. Freda was born January 21, 1939 in Strathclair, Man., the second child of Joseph and Julia Rieger and took most of her schooling in Dropmore and Shellmouth, Man. She moved to and worked in the Vernon area in 1957, from there she moved to the Harper Ranch in Kamloops where she worked and met the love of her life, Wally. They were married May 9, 1964 and she raised her family at Harper Ranch, remaining there until she and Wally moved to the Bridge Lake area in December, 1982. Freda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend quality time with her husband, children and granddaughter. She was also a loving and carefree daughter, sister, aunt and friend, always ready to create a little mischief and have a good time. Freda was always ready to help others, not thinking about herself or ever complaining. She was a hard worker, at home helping Wally and working in her house and garden, canning and cooking; or for her church community, making lunch after mass and organizing potluck suppers. In her spare time, Freda loved to read, knit, do crosswords and play computer blackjack.

Life can’t be counted in candles or measured in number of years.

It’s counted in small joys, good times and laugh lines

as well as in heartaches and tears.

My life’s been full, I savored much,

good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
