On Saturday, May 13, volunteers from the Lone Butte Historical Association (LBHA) got the Water Tower Park (WTP) / rest station ready for the yearly May long weekend opening. New flags were put up, the park was cleaned, picnic tables were uncovered, the caboose was cleaned and vacuumed, the murals were set up and the water was turned on. It took about twenty hours of labour to prepare WTP for opening this year. If you were unable to help, there is another work bee at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, at the Lone Butte Pioneer cemetery. Members of the Lone Butte community will clean up the old cemetery and we can always use a hand.

If you would like to help, but can’t make it on that date, there is yet another outside work bee at the Lone Butte Community Hall on Saturday, June 10, starting at 10 a.m. If you can help fix up fences, call Natalie at 250-706-9412.

Without the help of our Lone Butte community volunteers, Lone Butte wouldn’t have the community hall, water tower park, or caboose, so we hope to see a few more people at the next two work events. Volunteers are still needed for Lone Butte Rocks which is on Saturday, July 15. If you can help with any of the upcoming events, call the writer at 250-395-5193.
