Service pins awarded in Forest Grove

On May 15, the Ladies’ Auxiliary (LA), Branch 261, Forest Grove, came together to congratulate and celebrate the achievements of several of their own members with sandwiches, coffee and a delicious cake:

Sheila Nelson received the ‘Past President’s Medal’ for her three years of service as well as a five-year membership pin.

Marg Huber has been a member of the Forest Grove LA for 40 years and was handed her pin, confirming her long-standing commitment. Sally Gustafson was honoured with a lifetime membership, not only for her 49 years of service with the LA, but all her contributions for the school and community in particular.

Legion Week

The program for the 2017 Legion Week (June 23 to 29) is set as follows:

Saturday – Open House from 2 to 4 p.m. / Meat Draw from 4 to 6:30 p.m. / Kitchen open from 4 to 7 p.m. / Dance with Joey Onley at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday – Community Family Picnic in the Park behind the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 261, Forest Grove, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free hotdogs, chips and Music by Kariboo Colton.

Monday – Veterans and Volunteer Recognition Dinner 6:30 p.m. / By Invitation Only

Tuesday – First Responders Appreciation Night from 5 to 7 p.m. including appetizers / Open to members, families and the community

Wednesday – 50+ Lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Reminders

The Forest Grove Volunteer Fire Department is organising their third annual Emergency Services Open House at fire hall 1 (4518 Canim-Hendrix Lake Road) on June 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A barbeque lunch will be set up for everybody to enjoy.

The reFresh Electronic Art Festival will take place at the Forest Grove Community Hall (4489 Eagle Creek Road) on June 24, 2017, starting at 5 p.m. For more information and ticket purchases ($40), please check out their website - www.refreshnap.ca.

Canada Day

Residents and visitors alike are invited to Ruth Lake Park, along Eagle Creek Road, to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Canada in exalted company and beautiful surroundings on July 1, 2017.
