Ryan Friesen put home the game-winner for the 100 Mile House Wranglers in the local Junior B hockey club's 2-1 win over the Princeton Posse at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre on Jan. 8.

A 16-year-old from Williams Lake, Cody Swan, assisted on the play in his first Kootenay International Junior Hockey League game.

Defenceman Jaydon Gilding also picked up an assist on the game-winning play, which has momentarily vaulted the Wranglers into first place, one point ahead of the Kamloops Storm, in the Doug Birks Division.

Kamloops, with two games in hand over 100 Mile, hosts Princeton tonight (Jan. 9).

Alex Meeker, from Tate Page and Gilding, scored in the first period for 100 Mile House to tie the game against the Posse.

Michael Lynch, a veteran forward, took player of the game honours filling in on the point for the Wranglers.

Goalie Adam Derochie made 29 saves in the win.

The trade deadline in the KIJHL is Jan. 10. Coach Dale Hladun says he's in the market for defencemen.

The Wranglers have two division games coming up. They host the Storm on Jan. 15 and travel to Chase for a meeting with the Heat on Jan. 16.
