The bucking of the bulls whips into 100 Mile House, Sept. 5-6.
For the second year in a row, a professional bull riding event is coming to the South Cariboo Community Fall Fair.
“Last year, the community really showed up and helped a lot,” says Dave Atkinson of Diamond D Rodeo Bulls, which along with C-Plus Rodeos of 150 Mile, are supplying the 70 or so bucking bulls for the two-day event.
“We're going to have 20 of the best bull riders in B.C. here.”
Friday (Sept. 5) will see the younger bucking bulls taking the contestants for a ride, with the more powerful bulls set to buck in the finals on Saturday.
“These bulls are feeling pretty frisky; they're pretty wild; they're going to run a few guys over,” Atkinson says.
“I think all of us bull fighters are going to get a pretty good test out there.”
Atkinson mentions “Sorcerer” and “Lunar” as two great bulls to look out for. (Sorcerer is the bull in the posters around town.)
C-Plus bull “Riddick” is another one to watch.
“He's amazing. He gets four, five feet in the air and pulls guys down on his head and knocks them out. If somebody rides him, they're going to be 90 points.”
Wild horse racing and barrel racing are also part of the event.
Admission, which includes admission to the Fair, is $15 for adults, $10 students, and $5 for children and seniors.
The fun at the 100 Mile Outrider Grounds starts at 6 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 1 p.m. on Sept. 6.
