Quesnel Kangaroos got around Tomahawks goaltender Willy Sellars six times in the third period of their game in Lac la Hache on Nov. 17.

The Lac la Hache Tomahawks went one and one Nov. 16 and 17 in a couple of home-ice Central Interior Hockey League games.

Friday's opener with Williams Lake Stampeders dished up a 4-3 shoot-out win for the Hawks, with passion from both sides poured into the game.

Robbin Gilbert scored the shootout winning goal.

The tide turned for the Hawks on Saturday when their 6-3 lead at the end of the second period turned into a 9-8 loss to the Quesnel Kangaroos.

A third-frame barrage of shots against Hawks goaltender Willy Sellars produced six goals for the Roos to put them over the top.

Said Hawks coach Al Navrot: "Everything went haywire. We couldn't put a plug in the leak."

Gilbert managed to get past Roos’ goalie Ryan Manderson in the final second of the game but it was still one goal short.

Earlier in the frame, the Hawks were sure they'd scored and were headed to centre ice for a face-off when the referee waved it off.

"It went in and out, and I guess the ref couldn't see it," says Navrot.

Both Wilfred Robbins and Gilbert scored a hat trick, and Gilbert is currently number 5 among league scoring leaders.

The Tomahawks are on the road next weekend for games in Terrace and Kitimat. They'll hit the ice for the first time this season with forward Ty Moses, a scoring returnee from last year's lineup.
