South end junior wrestlers laid everything they had

on the mats at last weekend’s Smackdown elementary school wrestling tournament in Williams Lake.

Williams Lake Wrestling Club hosted the long-running event, which registered close to 200 participants from 15 clubs.

The South Cariboo was represented by six members of the 100 Mile Wrestling Club and 20 members of the Horse Lake Elementary School team, which boasts a total membership of 62.

The 100 Mile club made a strong statement with four gold medals earned by David Beck, Cory Mapson, Tiana Dykstra and Noah Dykstra.

Noah’s involvement in the sport makes it a Dykstra family affair, as he steps into the spotlight with his older sisters, Tiana and Marina, who are both accomplished wrestlers.

The club did no worse than second place, with Kody Kennedy and Daven Mapson each picking up a silver medal.

Horse Lake Elementary was on its game as well, pulling in eight gold medals, including five silver, four bronze and three fourth-place finishes.

Individual results for Horse Lake were not available at press time, but they

will be followed up with in next week’s Free Press.
