Dozens of folks laced up their running shoes and started around the trails by the 108 Mile Heritage Site for a good cause on May 3.

The 3rd Annual Cariboo Spring 10-km Run, Relay or Walk Around the Lakes drew 35 entrants and raised close to $700 for the 100 Mile District Hospice Palliative Care Society.

For the third straight year, local runner Andrea Flett won the women's category. She ran the 10-kilometre race in 46 minutes 25 seconds.

Jason Cameron won the men's category with a time of 53 minutes 20 seconds.

While it was a comfortable, sunny day, numbers were down a little bit this year over last, and organizer Kam Taylor is encouraging more walkers and relay teams to participate in the future.

Taylor adds his thanks to all of the volunteers for their time and the businesses which donated door prizes for the event.
