Former Kokoro Judo Club student Ali Briggs, along with current club students Wylan Hall and Adam Sullivan, competed in the Canadian National Judo Championship in Calgary, Alberta on May 12-16.

Briggs competed in the Seniors 57 kilogram category, while Hall competed in U16 60 kg and Sullivan fought in U16 73 kg.

Briggs had a great start with a flawless win against Josie Lehner from Saskatoon, with a score of 10-0. However, she was, unfortunately, disqualified in her second match for grabbing the pants of her opponent, Camélia Pitsilis from Quebec.

Briggs continued on to win bronze against Alexandra Gagnon from Alberta. The score was 10-0.

Hall and Sullivan lost both of their matches.

Kokoro Judo Club owner Sensei Ian Briggs commended his students for giving it their all.

The objective is to score a point. It's all about the effort.”
